Seven URL shorteners document an official MCP server today, so ChatGPT, Claude or another AI agent can create short links and read click analytics for you: LotsLink, Bitly, Dub, Rebrandly, Short.io, Linkly and Linkbreakers. Where they differ is what the agent can reach (QR codes, custom domains, editing), which plan turns MCP on, and how many links and clicks the free plan allows. If you share a lot of links and want your agent to make them and report on clicks without a monthly cap, LotsLink gives you unlimited links, clicks and QR codes for free, with MCP and REST on every account, and charges only when you add your own domain.
I opened each vendor's MCP page or docs and its pricing page on 12 October 2026 and linked them at the end. "MCP" means Model Context Protocol, the standard way an AI client such as ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor connects to a tool.

1. LotsLink: free, unlimited links your agent creates and tracks
LotsLink is the shortener I built for the way I work: I ask my agent for links while it drafts posts and emails, and I ask it later which ones got clicked. Connect https://api.lots.link/mcp to Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or any client that supports remote MCP, sign in with your Lots account, and the agent has 33 tools. No API key to copy.
- Links: create on lots.link or your own verified domain, with a custom slug, UTM fields, an expiry date and a project. Update, turn many on or off at once, or delete.
- Analytics: clicks by link or by workspace, with country, city, device and referrer when available, individual click records, and CSV or JSON export. Bots, link previews and prefetches aren't counted.
- Domains from the agent: add a custom domain, get the DNS record to set, and verify it. Your agent can also add your free lots.link subdomain.
- Teams: workspaces and projects per client or campaign, with owner, admin, member and viewer roles. The agent acts as you, with your role.
- REST too: the same tools are REST endpoints, documented at
https://api.lots.link/docs.md, for scripts and cloud agents without MCP.
When I ran it through the MCP on 12 October, I asked for a short link with UTM source, medium and campaign, opened the link once, and asked for its analytics. The agent came back with the click, the country and city, the device type and the referring page, without me opening the dashboard.
What it costs: links, clicks, QR codes, analytics, workspaces and team members are free and unlimited on every account, and so are MCP and the REST API. You pay only for your own domain: $4 per domain a month from credits, charged daily, or a plan with a block of domains: Starter $9 a month for 3, Pro $24 for 10, Business $59 for 30. Extra domains on a plan cost your plan's rate. New accounts get 4,000 free credits, valid 90 days, no card. If credits ever run out, existing links keep redirecting and your analytics stay readable. See pricing.
QR codes are made in the dashboard, and they point at the same short link, so scans show up in the same analytics your agent reads.
Choose LotsLink if you want your agent to create and track as many links as you need without a monthly cap, and you'd rather pay for your domain than for link volume.
2. Bitly: the best-known name, with QR codes in the agent
Bitly hosts its MCP server at https://api-ssl.bitly.com/v4/mcp and its docs name ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf. You sign in with OAuth or an API token. The tools cover short links, QR codes, analytics by link, group and QR code (with a breakdown of clicks from AI agents), custom domains and Bitly Sites, its link-in-bio pages. The pricing table includes Bitly MCP on every plan, and the MCP page says no extra subscription is needed.
Plans are where volume shows up: Free has 5 links and 2 QR codes a month, Core is $10 a month billed yearly for 100 links, Growth is $35 a month ($29 billed yearly) for 500 links and a complimentary custom domain, and Premium is $300 a month ($199 billed yearly) for 3,000 links. Multiple custom domains are on Enterprise.
Choose Bitly if brand recognition matters to your audience and you want QR codes and link-in-bio pages from the agent too.
3. Dub: open source, with conversion tracking
Dub runs two MCP servers. The one for links, at https://mcp.dub.sh/mcp/dub-links, lists 32 tools, signs in with OAuth and names Cursor, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT Desktop, VS Code and Codex CLI among others. It creates, updates and bulk-edits links, retrieves QR codes, reads analytics and events, manages domains, tags and folders, and tracks leads and sales. Its docs page features the other server, Dub Partners, for affiliate programs.
Dub's pages don't tie the Links MCP server to a plan, but its API reference says the analytics endpoints need a Pro plan or higher. Free has 25 new links and 1K tracked events a month, 3 custom domains and 30 days of analytics. Pro is $30 a month ($27 billed yearly) and Business $90.
Choose Dub if you need conversion and revenue attribution on your links, or you want open-source software you can self-host.
4. Rebrandly: branded links, listed in Claude's connectors
Rebrandly's MCP server at https://mcp.rebrandly.com/v1/mcp is listed in Claude's connector directory and signs in with OAuth there. Other clients, including Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Cursor, VS Code and Codex CLI, use an API key. The tools reference covers links, analytics metrics, workspaces, attaching domains to workspaces, tags, retargeting scripts and routing rules. It has no QR code tool.
The pricing table includes the MCP server on every plan, and links made through MCP count toward the plan's monthly limit. Free has 10 links and 10 QR codes a month with unlimited clicks. Essentials is $16 a month ($11 billed yearly) for 250 links and 2 custom domains, and Professional $39 ($32 billed yearly).
Choose Rebrandly if branded links across several workspaces are your main job and you work in Claude.
5. Short.io: generous free domains, API key setup
Short.io's help center describes an MCP server at https://ai-assistant.short.io/mcp, connected with an API key, for Claude Desktop and VS Code, and its July 2025 announcement adds ChatGPT. The agent can create and search links and read link and domain statistics. The same help article says the current MCP can't edit or delete an existing short link.
Every plan includes custom domains and click analytics. Free has 5 custom domains, 1,000 branded links over the life of the account and 50,000 tracked clicks a month. Hobby is $5 a month, Pro $18 and Team $48.
Choose Short.io if you want several custom domains on a free plan and your agent mainly creates links.
6. Linkly: OAuth server with webhooks, on Pro
Linkly's MCP server at https://mcp.linklyhq.com signs in with OAuth and works with Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT Desktop, Cursor and Windsurf. Its 12 tools create, update, delete, get, list and search links, read clicks and analytics, list domains and manage webhooks. The source is on GitHub.
Its MCP page says the server is available on Pro and above. Free has 100 links and 500 clicks a month and one custom domain. Pro is $39 a month ($32 billed yearly) for 1,000 links and 10,000 clicks.
Choose Linkly if you want webhooks managed by your agent and your volume fits its plans.
7. Linkbreakers: QR codes and visitor workflows
Linkbreakers positions itself around QR codes that capture leads. Its MCP server at https://mcp.linkbreakers.com signs in with OAuth, with an optional API token for clients without OAuth, and its tools create links, design QR codes, read analytics and events, add and check custom domains, and edit visitor workflows. Its pricing table shows MCP server support on every plan, Free included.
Free has one custom domain, 500 tracked journeys a month and two weeks of analytics. Light is $7.90 a month ($5.90 billed yearly) with 2 domains, and Pro $34.90.
Choose Linkbreakers if QR codes for events and print are the core of what you do.
What to check before you connect an agent to your links
- Is there a monthly link cap? Bitly, Rebrandly, Dub and Linkly count new links per month, and Short.io's free plan counts links over the account's life. On LotsLink, links and clicks are unlimited.
- Which plan turns MCP on? It's on every LotsLink account and on every Bitly, Rebrandly and Linkbreakers plan. Linkly needs Pro. Dub's analytics API needs Pro.
- How does the agent sign in? LotsLink, Dub, Linkly and Linkbreakers use OAuth, so the agent acts with your own role. Bitly offers OAuth or a token, Rebrandly uses OAuth only in Claude, and Short.io uses an API key. Give each agent its own key where keys are used.
- Can it set up your domain? LotsLink, Bitly, Dub and Linkbreakers have tools to add a custom domain. Rebrandly attaches existing domains, and Linkly lists them.
- Where do QR codes come from? Bitly, Dub and Linkbreakers expose QR tools. In LotsLink you make them in the dashboard and they count through the same short link.

Common questions
Which URL shorteners have an MCP server?
LotsLink, Bitly, Dub, Rebrandly, Short.io, Linkly and Linkbreakers each document an official MCP server on their own site, as of 12 October 2026. I found no official MCP server on TinyURL's or Cuttly's own sites; third-party connectors exist for both.
Can ChatGPT or Claude create short links for me?
Yes, once you connect a shortener's MCP server. LotsLink, Bitly and Linkly name both ChatGPT and Claude, Dub names ChatGPT Desktop and Claude, and Rebrandly is listed in Claude's connector directory. In LotsLink you add https://api.lots.link/mcp and sign in.
Is there a free URL shortener with an MCP server?
Yes. LotsLink includes MCP on every account with unlimited links, clicks and QR codes. Bitly, Rebrandly and Linkbreakers include MCP on their free plans with monthly limits: 5 links on Bitly and 10 on Rebrandly.
Can my AI agent read click analytics?
All seven let the agent read clicks. LotsLink returns country, city, device and referrer when available, plus click records and CSV or JSON export. Dub's analytics API needs Pro, and Short.io's free plan shows stats for the first 50,000 clicks a month.
Can an AI agent create QR codes?
Bitly, Dub and Linkbreakers have QR tools in their MCP servers. In LotsLink you create QR codes in the dashboard; they point at the short link, so your agent sees their scans in the same analytics.
Do I need MCP or a REST API?
MCP is for your AI client: you connect once and ask in plain words. A REST API is for scripts and cloud agents without MCP. LotsLink includes both on every account, and the same tools power each.
